The aim of this unit is to enable you to appreciate the complexities involved in delivering what is said to be ‘quality service’ within health and social care and to think about the challenges faced by managers and staff, particularly constraints such as finance and reduced staffing levels.This unit will introduce you to some of the initiatives that are occurring (you may be aware of them) to help enhance the care provision to patient and enhance the quality of their experiences within health and social care. By understanding these initiatives and reflecting on the care provision within your own workplace, you should be able to already see areas that could be improved.This particular unit will also discuss the dimensions (descriptors) of quality and some approaches to quality, i.e. quality control, quality assurance, evidence based practice and benchmarking.
