In this unit learners will understand the operational issues that underpin successful events and conference management. This unit examines a wide range of events and discusses the processes and considerations involved.The first lessons focus on the nature of the events sector and the factors that influence it, in particular they (i) describe the nature of the events industry and its significance to hospitality operations, (ii) discuss the growth of the industry and the importance of innovation and (iii) identify a range of venues and the reasons for their selection.Next the following lessons focus on the key issues involved in effective management of events and conferences and in particular they (i) describe the administrative considerations for effective event planning, (ii) discuss etiquette and protocol requirements for events and conferences and (iii) identify the key legal and financial aspects of events management.The final lessons focus on considerations for the organisation and implementation of events and conferences, especially (i) assessing the quality requirements of a range of styles of events and conferences, (ii) describing processes to evaluate performance of managed events and (iii) indicating how targets are set for establishing success criteria.
