The aim of this unit is to help learners understand the principles of evaluating learning programmes and use evaluation methods and data collected to improve learning programmesThe unit covers types and methods of evaluating learning, appropriate evaluation methods, and collating and analysing data for the purpose of evaluating learning programmes. In addition, the importance of reviewing own practice in evaluation is discussed.Note:An important component of this course is your own Teaching Journal. This is a document that you will compile throughout all the units of the course to build up a valuable resource of particular use when you embark on your practical class-based practice. Many of the activities require you to add entries to the Teaching Journal. It is important that you do this in the earlier theoretical units so that you can refer to it later on during the units that deal with practical aspects of teaching and learning. The Teaching Journal will help you to record your own progress in evaluating learning programmes.
